Mentionpath tracks your brand’s presence inside AI-generated responses — across tools like ChatGPT, Perplexity, and others. This guide walks you from sign-up to your first live tracking setup. The whole process takes about 10 minutes.
1

Create your account

Go to mentionpath.com and click Sign up. Enter your first name, email address, and a password, then click Create account.Mentionpath will send a verification email. Open it and click the confirmation link. You’ll be redirected automatically to the onboarding wizard once your email is verified.
If you don’t see the email within a few minutes, check your spam folder. The link expires after 24 hours.
2

Name your workspace

The first screen of the onboarding wizard asks for a workspace name. This is the name used for your organization inside Mentionpath — for example, your company name or team name.Type a name and click Continue.
3

Choose a plan

Select the plan that fits your needs. All paid plans are billed monthly or yearly (yearly saves up to 33%).
PlanPriceBest for
Starter$45/moIndividual practitioners tracking one domain
Professional$120/moTeams and agencies managing multiple domains (most popular)
Advanced$390/moHigh-volume monitoring across 500 tracked prompt segments
EnterpriseCustomCustom limits, API access, and dedicated support
If you’re unsure which plan to choose, start with Professional — it gives you unlimited domains and projects, and you can change plans at any time from Account → Billing. See the full plans comparison for a feature-by-feature breakdown.
After selecting a plan you’ll be taken to checkout. Once payment is confirmed, Mentionpath automatically continues to the final setup step and lands you on the dashboard.
4

Add your first domain

Enter your website URL in the Domain URL field — for example, example.com. You don’t need to include https://.Mentionpath immediately enriches your brand profile: it analyzes your site and pre-fills your domain name, detects industry, business model, and suggests competitors. This takes a few seconds.Once the analysis is complete, review the pre-filled Domain name field and correct it if needed, then click Continue.
The enrichment step runs in the background while you wait. If your site is behind a login or blocks crawlers, some fields may not auto-fill — you can complete them manually in later steps.
5

Configure your domain profile

This step tells Mentionpath the geographic and business context it needs to track your brand accurately. Fill in each field:
  • Country — the primary country your business operates in. Select Worldwide if you don’t target a specific country.
  • City — an optional city or region to narrow tracking further.
  • Language — the primary language of your content and audience.
  • Geographic reach — choose one: Local, Regional, National, or Global. This determines the default scope for prompt tracking.
  • Industry — select the category that best describes your business. Mentionpath may have pre-filled this based on your site.
  • Business modelB2B, B2C, or Both.
  • Customer type — check all that apply: the types of customers you serve.
Click Continue when all required fields are filled.
6

Add your competitors

Enter the domains of at least three direct competitors — for example, competitor.com. Mentionpath uses these to compare your AI visibility against theirs and to surface competitive mentions.Mentionpath suggests competitors based on your site and industry. Click a suggestion chip to add it to a slot. You can add up to five competitors total (three required, two optional).Click Continue when you’ve added at least three.
7

Set up your first prompts

Prompts are the queries your target customers type into AI tools when looking for solutions like yours. Mentionpath runs these queries across AI providers and reports how often — and how prominently — your brand appears in the responses.Navigate to Prompts in the sidebar and click Create prompts. You can add prompts three ways:
  • Create manually — type one prompt at a time
  • Create with AI — describe your business and let Mentionpath generate a set of prompts automatically
  • Import from CSV — upload a file if you already have a list
Aim for 3–5 prompts to start. Good prompts match the intent of someone who doesn’t yet know your brand but is looking for what you offer. Examples:
  • “best project management software for small teams”
  • “how to automate invoice processing”
  • “B2B marketing analytics tools”
For each prompt you can set one or more locations (the countries or cities to track it in) and assign it to a topic for grouping in reports.
Use Create with AI if you’re unsure where to start. Give it a one-sentence description of your product and it will generate a starting set based on your domain profile.
8

Complete Domain DNA

Domain DNA is Mentionpath’s brand intelligence profile. The more complete it is, the more accurately Mentionpath can evaluate your AI presence and generate relevant content recommendations.Go to Domain DNA in the sidebar. You’ll see sections for:
  • Organisation — your company description, founding year, headquarters, and key value propositions
  • Products — the specific products or services you offer, with descriptions
  • Competitors — the same competitors from onboarding, plus any additional ones you want to add
  • Topics — the themes and subject areas your brand covers
Work through each section. You don’t need to complete everything at once — the dashboard’s Getting started checklist marks Domain DNA as complete once the core Organisation and Products sections are filled.
Domain DNA directly affects your tracking accuracy and the quality of AI-generated content in Mentionpath. Spending 5–10 minutes completing it now will improve your results significantly.
9

Check your first results

Once your prompts are set up, Mentionpath begins tracking runs in the background. Return to the Overview dashboard (the home icon in the sidebar) to see your initial data. The dashboard shows:
  • AI Visibility — the percentage of your tracked prompts where your brand appears in AI responses
  • Mentions — the total number of times your brand was cited across all tracked prompts and providers
  • Average position — where your brand appears in AI responses on average (lower is better)
  • Sentiment — whether AI responses about your brand skew positive, neutral, or negative
  • Site Health — a score reflecting how well your site is structured for AI discoverability
Initial tracking data takes time to populate. Depending on the number of prompts and locations you’ve configured, your first results typically appear within a few hours of completing setup. The dashboard will show in place of scores until the first run finishes.
The Getting started checklist on the dashboard tracks your setup progress. Each item links directly to the relevant section so you can complete setup at your own pace.
