Before you begin
Have the following ready before starting:- Your brand’s website URL (e.g.
example.com) - A sense of which industry and business model best describes your organization
- 3–5 competitor website URLs
- A Google Analytics 4 property and/or Google Search Console account if you want traffic data connected from day one
Onboarding steps
Name your workspace
The first screen asks for a workspace name. This is the name of your organization inside Mentionpath — it appears in the app header and in billing settings. Enter the name of your company or team.Click Continue to move to the next step. Your workspace name is saved immediately and can be changed later from account settings.
Add your brand and domain
Enter two things:
- Brand name — the display name of your brand as you want it tracked (e.g.
Acme Corp) - Domain URL — your website’s domain without the protocol (e.g.
acme.com)
Enter the root domain, not a subpage. Use
acme.com rather than acme.com/products.Set location, language, and industry
This step tells Mentionpath the geographic and categorical context for your brand. This affects how prompts are tracked and how your visibility data is segmented.Fill in the following fields:Location
- Country — select the primary country your business operates in, or choose Worldwide
- City / Region — optionally add a city or region for more granular tracking
- Choose the primary language your brand and audience use. This is the language in which Mentionpath monitors AI responses.
- Indicates whether your business operates locally, nationally, or globally. This helps Mentionpath calibrate which AI responses are relevant to you.
- Mentionpath pre-fills Industry and Business model based on its analysis of your site. Review these and adjust if needed. Industry options include categories like Software & Technology, Financial Services, Healthcare, Retail & eCommerce, and more.
- Business model options include SaaS / Subscription software, DTC brand, Agency / Services, Marketplace / Platform, and others.
- Customer type lets you select B2B, B2C, or B2B2C — you can select more than one.
Add competitors
Enter at least 3 competitor domains. You can add up to 5. Start typing a URL and select from the suggestions that appear, or enter domains manually.Mentionpath also suggests competitors based on what it discovered during the brand enrichment step. Suggested competitors appear as clickable chips below the input fields — click one to add it to a slot.Competitors are used in two ways:
- Mentionpath tracks how often competitors are mentioned in AI responses to the same prompts you monitor
- Competitor data feeds into your visibility benchmarks so you can see how you compare
You need at least 3 valid, non-duplicate competitor URLs to continue. The 4th and 5th slots are optional.
Tell us how you found Mentionpath
Select how you discovered Mentionpath. This is a single-choice question with options like LinkedIn, Google Search, a colleague recommendation, a newsletter, and others. This step is required to continue, but your selection doesn’t affect your account or data in any way.
Choose a plan
Select the subscription plan that fits your needs. You can switch between monthly and yearly billing — yearly plans include a discount.
After selecting a plan, you’ll be taken to Stripe Checkout to complete payment. Once payment is confirmed, you’re redirected back to Mentionpath and the final step begins automatically.
| Plan | Tracked prompts | Domains | Monthly price | Yearly price |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | 50 | 1 | $45/mo | $360/yr |
| Professional | 100 | Unlimited | $120/mo | $1,020/yr |
| Advanced | 500 | Unlimited | $390/mo | $3,240/yr |
| Enterprise | Custom | Unlimited | Contact sales | Contact sales |
The Professional plan is the most popular choice. It gives you unlimited domains and 100 tracked prompts, making it suitable for most growing businesses.
Generating your initial data
After payment is confirmed, Mentionpath runs the seed step — it generates your initial set of monitoring prompts based on your domain profile and queues your first round of AI visibility analysis. You’ll see a loading screen while this runs. This step is automatic and typically takes under a minute. Do not close the tab during this step.Once the seed step completes, you’re redirected to the main dashboard. Your Domain DNA profile, initial prompts, and first batch of visibility data will be ready or actively processing.
After onboarding: what to expect
When you arrive in the dashboard for the first time, some data will be available immediately and some will continue processing in the background. What's ready immediately
What's ready immediately
- Your Domain DNA profile with the organization details, competitor list, and classification fields you filled in during onboarding
- Your prompts — the initial set generated during the seed step
- Your domain record with location, language, industry, and business model
What processes in the background
What processes in the background
Mentionpath begins running your prompts against AI providers (ChatGPT, Perplexity, and others) as soon as seeding completes. The first full round of results typically appears within a few hours. Visibility scores, sentiment readings, and citation data populate as responses come in.Site Health audit results also take some time to generate after your domain is created.
Returning to onboarding
Returning to onboarding
If you need to leave the wizard mid-way, Mentionpath saves your progress automatically. Your workspace name, brand name, and domain URL are persisted as drafts so you don’t lose your work if you navigate away or close the browser.Return to the onboarding URL at any time and you’ll resume at the step where you left off.
Next steps after onboarding
Once you’re in the dashboard, these are the most impactful things to do next:Complete Domain DNA
Domain DNA pre-fills during onboarding, but reviewing and completing it improves the accuracy of your AI visibility tracking. Add products, key topics, and tone of voice details.
Review and refine your prompts
The seed step creates an initial prompt set. Review the generated prompts, edit any that don’t match how your customers actually search, and add more.
Connect Google integrations
Link Google Analytics 4 and Google Search Console to bring organic traffic and click data into your visibility dashboard for a more complete picture.
Run a Site Health audit
See which content gaps and technical issues are limiting your discoverability in AI responses, and get prioritized recommendations to fix them.
