Your knowledge base is the reference document library that Mentionpath uses to understand your brand. When you upload content here — product documentation, case studies, whitepapers, competitor research, press materials, or any other relevant text — the AI draws on that context when generating articles, building outlines, and making brand-aware decisions across the platform. The more high-quality content you add, the more accurately the AI can reflect your brand’s voice, expertise, and positioning. The knowledge base is scoped to your active domain. Documents you add here are available to all article generation and AI features within that domain.

AI training quality score

At the top of the Knowledge Base page, a progress bar shows your current AI training quality score as a percentage. This score is calculated from the total word count across all successfully processed documents, measured against a target of 500,000 words. The training quality score is also visible on your Overview dashboard, giving you a quick read on how well-equipped the AI is to represent your brand accurately. Uploading more content with diverse coverage — multiple document types, different topics, varying content lengths — raises this score and improves generation quality.

Uploading content

Click Upload content to open the upload panel. You can add content three ways:

File upload

Upload a document directly from your computer. The file is stored, parsed, and indexed for AI use.

Website URL

Paste a URL and Mentionpath scrapes the page content. Useful for importing published articles, product pages, or competitor content.

Paste text

Paste raw text directly into the panel. Good for internal content that isn’t in a file or published online.
Supported file formats include PDF, Word documents (.docx), and plain text files (.txt). Each upload needs a title and a category so the AI can reference it effectively.
After uploading, the document is processed in the background. The status column in the documents table updates as processing completes.

Document categories

When you upload a document, you assign it a category that tells Mentionpath what kind of content it is. Available categories include:
  • Article
  • Case Study
  • Competitor Research
  • FAQ
  • Feature Documentation
  • Media Kit
  • Other
  • Press
  • Reviews
  • Webpage
  • Whitepaper
Categorizing documents accurately helps the AI weight and apply reference material appropriately during generation.

Managing your documents

The documents table shows all uploaded content for your domain. Each row displays the document title, category, word count, and processing status. Click any row to open the document detail panel, where you can:
  • Edit the title — update the display name used to identify this document
  • Change the category — reassign the document type
  • Check processing status — see whether the document has been successfully indexed (Done), is still processing, or encountered an error
To delete a document, open the detail panel and click Delete document in the danger zone. You’ll be asked to type the document title to confirm. Deletion is permanent and removes the content from AI training data.
Deleting a document removes it from your knowledge base immediately. This cannot be undone. If you’re unsure, consider leaving the document in place — it does not incur additional cost to keep documents stored.

Document statuses

StatusMeaning
DoneDocument has been successfully processed and is available for AI use
ProcessingDocument is being parsed and indexed — this usually takes a few seconds to a minute
FailedProcessing encountered an error. Try re-uploading the document
Rejected – limit exceededThe document exceeds the maximum word count limit per document

Searching your documents

Use the search bar above the documents table to find specific documents by title. The search runs against the document title and filename, so consistent naming makes documents easier to locate as your knowledge base grows.
Focus on uploading content that reflects your brand’s expertise and differentiators — not just general industry articles. The AI uses your knowledge base to understand what makes your brand distinct, so brand-specific case studies, feature documentation, and positioning content have the most impact on generation quality.
