Connecting Google Search Console (GSC) to Mentionpath brings your organic search performance data into the Traffic dashboard. You can track how your site appears in Google Search results — clicks, impressions, click-through rate, and average ranking position — and see which queries and pages are driving the most search traffic. This data pairs directly with Mentionpath’s AI visibility metrics, letting you compare your presence in traditional search against your presence in AI-generated responses.
What data you get
Once GSC is connected and a property is selected, the Traffic dashboard shows:
KPI summary cards
- Clicks — total clicks from Google Search results in the selected period, with period-over-period change
- Impressions — how many times your pages appeared in search results
- CTR — click-through rate (clicks divided by impressions)
- Avg Position — your average ranking position across all queries
Charts and breakdowns
- Performance Over Time — a daily chart showing clicks and impressions trends
- Top Queries — the search queries sending the most traffic to your site, with clicks and impressions per query, sortable by either metric
- Top Pages — your highest-performing pages in Google Search, with clicks and impressions per page
- Countries — clicks by country, sortable by percentage of total
- Devices — share of clicks by device type (desktop, mobile, tablet)
- By Day — a daily table of clicks and impressions, sortable by date or volume
Connecting Google Search Console
Open Account Settings
Click your account menu and select Settings, then navigate to the Integrations tab.
Connect Search Console
Find the Google Search Console card and click Connect. Mentionpath will redirect you to Google’s OAuth consent screen.
Authorize access
Sign in with the Google account that has access to your Search Console properties, and grant Mentionpath the requested permissions. You’ll be redirected back to Mentionpath automatically.
Select a property
After the connection is confirmed, Mentionpath opens the integration detail so you can choose which GSC property to enable. Enable the property (or properties) you want to use. Each enabled property becomes available in the Traffic dashboard property selector.
You can connect multiple GSC properties to the same domain. Use the property selector in the Traffic dashboard filter bar to switch between them.
Selecting a property in the Traffic dashboard
Once GSC is connected and at least one property is enabled, open the Traffic dashboard. In the filter bar:
- Select Google Search Console from the connector dropdown.
- Choose your GSC property from the property dropdown next to it.
The dashboard loads search performance data for the selected property and date range. If you have multiple properties enabled, you can switch between them without leaving the dashboard.
If no property appears in the dropdown, select Add property to return to Account Settings and enable one.
How GSC data complements AI visibility
Mentionpath is built around measuring how your brand appears in AI-generated responses. GSC data adds the traditional search layer to that picture.
Use them together to answer questions like:
- Are queries where you rank well in Google also queries where AI mentions you? If AI models are answering those queries themselves, your click volume may decline even as your content ranks highly.
- Are there queries driving GSC impressions but low clicks? AI overviews may be intercepting traffic for those queries before users reach your result.
- Where are you strong in AI but weak in traditional search, or vice versa? Gaps between the two signals point to content and optimization opportunities.
Switch between the Google Analytics and Search Console connectors in the Traffic dashboard to move quickly between your traffic and search views for the same domain.
Troubleshooting
No data appears after connecting
Property discovery and the initial data sync can take a few minutes. If the dashboard remains empty after five minutes, check that you enabled at least one property in Account Settings > Integrations.
The integration shows “Expired” or “Error”
Your Google OAuth token has expired or been revoked. Open the integration detail in Account Settings > Integrations and click the re-authenticate option to go through the OAuth flow again. Mentionpath will resume syncing once the connection is restored.
I connected the wrong Google account
Disconnect the current GSC integration from Account Settings > Integrations and reconnect using the correct Google account.
A property I expect to see isn’t listed
The Google account used to connect must have at least Full access or Restricted access to the Search Console property. Domain properties (as opposed to URL-prefix properties) also require DNS verification. If a property is missing, verify that the connected account has been granted access in Google Search Console.
Queries show impressions but zero clicks
This is normal for queries where your page appeared in search results but users didn’t click through. High impressions with low clicks often indicate that users found the answer directly in the search results page — including from AI overviews.
Disconnecting a GSC integration stops data from syncing. Historical data already imported into Mentionpath is retained unless you choose to purge it when disconnecting.
